White diet

White diet - What it consists of and when to use it.

The 'white diet' is a temporary diet recommended after certain dental treatments such as teeth whitening or professional hygiene. It is a very important recommendation that allows you to maintain the effect of the therapies indicated above for longer.

The white diet does not include products and foods that can stain your teeth.

When should white fingers be used?

This type of diet is recommended after professional whitening, home whitening, therapies using ICON (therapies to eliminate white spots on the enamel) and after professional hygiene sessions.

How long should the white diet last?

The duration of the diet depends on the therapy performed and the type of whitening. In the case of professional excavation, the duration is 7 days. Immediately after the session, for 2 hours, the patient should avoid eating and drinking anything except mineral water. In the first 24 hours you need to be careful about consuming very hot or very cold drinks.

However, in the case of a professional hygiene session, the patient should maintain the white diet for the following 2 days.

What foods should you avoid?

In the white diet, all products that could cause color changes or stains on the teeth must be eliminated from the menu. In particular, among the coloring substances there are: coffee, tea, alcoholic drinks (especially red wine), colored fruit juices, carbonated drinks and some vegetables (beetroot, spinach and tomato). Among the foods to avoid we also find blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and various spices such as turmeric, curry or cinnamon.

So what can I eat?

The white diet involves the consumption of foods such as: fish and white meat (chicken, turkey), some vegetables (potatoes, cauliflower), dairy products, cheeses, milk, yogurt, bread and rice.

The best drink to choose is still water.

What more can I do?

To maintain the effect of dental treatments for longer, in addition to the recommendations of the white diet, we recommend:

1. Stop or reduce smoking

2. Perform professional oral hygiene sessions regularly

3. Brush or at least rinse with water after consuming foods or drinks that stain your teeth

4. Do not use chlorhexidine-based mouthwashes excessively or incorrectly.
